PARTICIPANT INFORMATION FOR CONFERENCE (May 6-7) AND WORKSHOPS (various dates):

Bringing Sand to the Workshop or Conference: You will need approximately 20 pounds of sand for the workshops (but only 4-5 pounds of sand if you are coming only to the conference on May 6-7). Twenty pounds of sand should fit nicely in two gallon-size zip-lock bags (4-5 pounds will fit in one gallon-size zip-lock bag). You can probably find a natural site for collecting some really nice sand. If not, garden stores and craft stores sell small bags of sand. Try to find sand that feels good on your hands. If you have a sand tray, you could borrow sand from it.

Please be prepared to take your sand home with you as it is difficult for us to dispose of sand at the beach. It is illegal to dump sand onto the beach, and it is too heavy for the garbage cans. If you need help unloading or loading the sand to and from your car, please let us know. The hotel has luggage carts in the lobby, and they have allowed participants in the past to use them for transporting sand. If you have difficulty bringing sand to the workshop, send us an e-mail to let us know so that we can bring some for you: sandtray@comcast.net

Bringing Miniatures to the Workshop or Conference: It is not necessary to go miniature shopping if you do not already have miniatures. We will have plenty of miniatures for our experiential exercises even if you cannot bring any. It might be fun, however, to look around your home and see if there is anything small that really appeals to you. Or if you have some miniatures in your own sand tray collection that touch your curiosity, bring them along - just to explore for yourself what those miniatures might mean to you. Please bring 7-10 miniatures for the workshops, but only 3-5 for the conference. Try to bring small miniatures since we will have limited table space for displaying them. Please mark your miniatures, or make a list of them so that you will be able to retrieve all your miniatures at the end of the workshop/conference.

If You Register for Level 7 : Part of the activities for this workshop will occur on the beach (weather permitting!). Please bring clothing appropriate for water and sand play. If possible, please bring a small shovel (toy or garden shovel) for some serious digging in the sand on the beach (weather permitting) and a pail or small bucket. If you are traveling by air, and it is difficult to bring these items, no worries! We will have extras! Sun screen is a good idea also since we will spend part of the time on the beach (weather permitting). If you are local, a beach chair and even an umbrella might come in handy. Just be ready to play outside (weather permitting).
